Hi - anyone out there at the moment with any news on thunderstorms? Have looked at forecast for next week and it%26#39;s not looking too great! We go in just over 2 weeks and getting concerned. Is it just rainy overnight or what? Have been twice at this time of year with no rain. Any updates please?
Thunderstorms? Getting worried ......
If you get a reply let me know cos I fly out this Sunday.
Thunderstorms? Getting worried ......
Will do. Can%26#39;t believe what the forecast is saying. Never happened whilst we%26#39;ve been there previously.
My first time.Staying in Candolim. Any advice re things to see or be aware of?
meercat, hi, look at Bruahy%26#39;s daily posting. We also go in around 2 weeks time and the thought of thunderstorms is just not on! I have seen threads saying it has been cooler in the evenings this year and they didn%26#39;t need aircon or fan at night.
In my opinion, the waterfalls is great. Also a spice plantation and elephant ride for a first visit and if you fancy it, the temples and churches of Old Goa. It is incredibly hot there though! We done Jake the Snake crocodile trip and my husband and friends are doing this again but there%26#39;s no way I%26#39;m getting back on that boat again! Anjuna market and the night markets are fantastic for a few bargains but ask to see the pashmina or whatever you%26#39;re buying out of the packet, inspect it thoroughly and make sure that is exactly the same one they give you. Beware of the %26#39;ear cleaners%26#39; at the markets. If anyone approaches you saying they found something in your ear, just walk on. There are alot of beggars - if you give to one, you%26#39;ll suddenly be surrounded by loads. And don%26#39;t be pushed into buying anything you don%26#39;t want on the beach or wherever; they can be very persistant. Again, if you buy from one, they%26#39;ll all expect you to buy, but they are generally very friendly and are just trying to make a living but it can be a bit daunting for a first-timer. I found it very hard to handle on our first visit and stayed away from the beach but learned quickly last year with the help of my very experienced friend! Hope this helps and have a great holiday!
Oh and do your trips with a taxi driver not through your holiday rep - it%26#39;s an awful lot cheaper!
Hi lovetravelling - yeah I have been keeping with the weather reports from Bruary but was wondering about the long range forecast. Like you said - rain is just not on!
I have been looking at the forecasts but they tend to only show 10 days worth and they keep forecasting rain so I have stopped bothering the last few days! Mind you we went to the Maldives last year and it was showing rain/thunderstorms for days and when we got there it was blue sky all the way so lets hope it will be like that this year.
I agree with Meercat on the trips, we got given a map of Goa and picked out some temples and a monastery to visit one day in conjunction with the spice plantation, just got a taxi for the day. We tried to do most trips early morning or later afternoon if they were only short trips, or making sure we were tucked up snugly in a shady shack for the midday heat, with a cold bottle of beer and a plate of curry...cannot wait. If you just keep telling the beach sellers no, firmly but politely they go away to find someone else to bother. They just used to come and talk to us in the end and not try selling us sarongs etc. The waterfalls at Dudshugar were beautiful, the pool was cool, we were hot with the clamber up there and just jumped in along with a load of other people, lots of shrieks. Go down to Cabo de Rama as well, plus Coco beach for peace and quiet.
Must admit, I don%26#39;t normally take too much notice of the weather forecasts apart from when it%26#39;s really hot and sunny and I%26#39;m winding my friends up at work lol. They%26#39;re not normally that accurate, but it%26#39;s the last holiday we%26#39;ll be having for a while as our daughter is getting married next year and we have to save every penny for that, so really do need some hot and sunny weather and will be absolutely devastated if it%26#39;s crappy!
