First timers to Goa

hi sunny,

haven%26#39;t stayed at the alor but everyone expects tips in goa.

at the airport you will have your trolly of cases taken off you, it is easier to just let them take it and they also know where your transfer coach is, give them a pound coin, they will try to tell you that it is a pound per case but i just tell them that is all you have.

At the hotel you will be met by the room boys who will take your cases for you , when tipping them it is worth remembering that one of them will probably be your roomboy for the duration of your holiday. in restaurants i generally work on the 10% rule. to be honest you could end up tipping virtually everyone down to the man who opens the door for you at the ATM machine, just use your discretion and tip when you think it is appropiate. i tipped our room boy R100 halfway through the holiday aswell as a little bit every time we paid the mini bar bill and i gave him R500 on our last day as he was very efficient. happy hols!!

we go on the 5th this next month to candolim were you are staying the. hotel has had some work done on it and a new kitchen and chef. the chef is very good they say. i have not personaly stayed there but my work mate did. he is a bit picky he said it was fine he was in a refurbished room. said work was still going in in april last year. we went just after him and saw the work going on should be complete now. most hotels are basic. we stay normaly at the magnum but got a great deal in a nice little hotel in candolim. we met the owner last year and wanted us to stay at his hotel so i booked the flight only this time. you will enjoy it the food is great and all the people are nice. say away from the beggers. local workers get only £1 or kess a day working long hours beggers somtimes get a lot more i have seen some given 500 rps.

Thanks for that its great to here that the hotel is ok. Hope you have a great time i cant wait, sun, sea and of course loads of food and drink. I know we are going to be spoilt cos we love our curries the spicier the better, well we do live in birmingham!!!!
