Rain in Goa

Have just received text from daughter in Candolim and she has told me that yesterday was cloudy, today cloudy with drizzle and now raining hard. What is happening to Goa? We have been for many years at this time of year and never once have we seen rain! We are going early January and are now worried that the weather is turning bad. On the good side, it is still hot though!

Rain in Goa

I%26#39;m sure the weather will soon improve and it will be sunny again and you should have great weather in January. It%26#39;s bound to be a lot better than the UK anyway! Hope your daughter is enjoying her holiday despite the rain.

Rain in Goa

If it%26#39;s any consolation we once had a terrific storm in December in Goa, and that was at least 10 years ago, so it does happen. We watched it come all the way up the coast hoping against hope that it would have rained itself out by the time it got to us. It hadn%26#39;t!

I am sure that both of you are right re weather in January, or at least I hope you are! As I said though, I can honestly say I have never seen rain through December! I have noticed that the water is a lot rougher than before the tsunami and the sunsets are not nearly as picturesque either. Nevertheless, still a great place to spend a couple of months during the winter.

Have spent last 14 years in Goa in january. One year it rained once for 10 minutes in the morning, once it rained during the night and I think it was 3 years ago it rained for half a day. Much better track record than the U.K.!!!

Not Good ... we fly out on Sunday lets hope it picks up

Hi

Was only for a short period last night all gone again today.

Not quite back to normal today but should be ok before Sunday Hampshire Jax

Hi,

It is back to normal now! I have been here almost a month now and I had a few days at the start with haze moving in and one day (well evening) of rain and it was still warm!

I%26#39;m sure Jan will be fine....better than the UK anyway!

Thanks for all your replies. I am now getting really excited, as I do every year, for a month away from the UK weather. Only sorry that this year we decided to go for January and not December as we usually do. Christmas here is cold and depressing, whilst Christmas in Goa, sitting on the beach is really something else! Oh well, 2008 Christmas beckons!

we have just got back from Goa and was there when it rained, it rained for 10mins thats all the day was cloudy but when it rained the next day was fine, i think the weather needed to rain for the clouds the clear, the weather was 35deg so dont worry!!

We were there for the rain. It was cloudy for 2 days, and started to rain late afternoon on the 2nd day while we were on the beach. We took shelter in the shack and had to stay put for a while, as we had a few heavy showers.... hardly a problem having an extra cocktail or beer while you wait! It was more of a problem for the shack lads who had to rush out to cover all the beds. By about 7pm it had stopped and seemed to clear the sky, as it was glorious sunshine for the rest of the trip.

This was only the 2nd time in 10 years I%26#39;d witnessed rain in Goa, and it never lasts, so I wouldn%26#39;t worry about it spoiling your holiday.
