If you pay ten pounds sterling for a meal for two including drink you have had a banquet. There are so many restaurants to choose from in Candolim that you could eat in a different one each night, with everything from Goan, Chinese, Thai, English etc etc. Don%26#39;t expect the curries to taste anything like the ones from your local Indian (these are mainly operated by Bangldeshis and the style of cuisine is unique to Europe).

My advice would be not to eat in the hotel. I have not stayed there for a couple of years but when I did I was not overly impressed. Eating away from hotels is always cheaper and, in my experience, definitely better quality. Look out for Inferno and Fishermans Cove as good choices. - both in Beach Road - but there are so many to choose from that I have been to Candolim 6 times now and have still to sample many of them. Most people find one or two they like and stick with them.

You will be about 15/20 mins stroll from the beach. As you come out of the hotel turn left and then it is a short walk to the main road (word of warning - there are no pavements so be aware of the traffic as this is a main route to Panjim, especially at night. You may find it useful to have a small torch so drivers are aware you are there). When you get to the main road turn right, cross over and you will find a track leading down to the beach. If you continue along the main road for about 8 mins you will come across Beach Road which is the main artery down to the beach - this road has lots of restaurants and shops. Equally you could get a taxi to the beach for around 50 rupees.

Re fishing trips, we used to use Orlando who operates out of Coco Beach. However, we have not bothered for a couple of years. My husband caught a 20 kilo barramundi and thought he would quit whilst ahead! Johns Boats is another option and I am sure you will get a lot of help from other trip advisors on this. Also, ask the locals - anything is possible in Goa and somebody will know someone. At the back of the hotel there is a little ';pond'; which we tried to fish. Didn%26#39;t get anything but there are supposed to be small catfish in there (and possibly one or two snakes).

From a total Goan nut (and close neighbour from Canvey Island).

It%26#39;s about 10-15 minutes walk to the beach and 5-10 minutes to the town centre. I haven%26#39;t stopped there but we walked past ithe end of the road when we were there last year. You can eat out for about £10-£15 for a decent meal for 2. There are loads of good restaurants to choose from in Candolim so you%26#39;ll be spoilt for choice. Don%26#39;t know anything about fishing but I%26#39;m sure somebody else will.

Candybabe%26#39;s reply wasn%26#39;t here when I started typing my inferior reply!

Not inferior - perhaps I just have more time to waste (although I am at work and probably shouldn%26#39;t be looking at TripAdvisor!!!!)

We are staying at the Prazares at the same time as you, fly out of Gatwick on Saturday 4th, arrife Goa Sunday 4th.. This will be our 3rd time at the Prazeres and we love every minute. The hotel staff are really great and will do anything for you. A small torch would come in very handy, you can buy them in Candolim, they are very cheap. I agree with the other comments about the cost in the restaurants. Our favorite is Floyds. The curries are the best we have ever tasted and every reasonably priced. Look forward to seeing you at the bar in the hotel.
