Do you have any recommendation on a hotel at beachfront or have direct access to the beach?

Calungute end of Candolim there is Sonesta%26#39;s Inn which is a lovely hotel with gardens leading down to the beach. Also The goan Heritage which again is a nice hotel right on the beach front.

Thats right but Goan heritage is a bit away from local amenities down a side track but hey taxis are cheap in the North..

steve sorry to disagree but holiday road is by no means a side %26#39;track%26#39; over the last couple of years the number of guest houses, night clubs (Utopia) restaraunts and shops that have opened down there have made it a very busy road. We used to stay on that road but it is now too busy and noisy.

at the end of the beach road next to the car park is Silver Sands. Basic but clean and just 2 mins from beach and Frank Zappas beach shack.

watakeet let us know when you get back what you think of Sonestas Inn as we have not stayed there just walked through and made enquiries but it looks really nice.

Returned safely from Goa. Sonnesta Inn is lovely enough with all the 2-storey houses of rooms and suites around the pool. Breakfast is so-so. We%26#39;ve got a suite which has a sitting area which is perfect for relaxing. A thumbs-down is the internet connection - unbearably slow. We spent an hour and achieved practically nothing but a short reply to one or two email. Cost us Rs60.

Nice environment but location is right between Candolim and Calangute - an up-side or down-side depending on your views. Bob%26#39;s Inn, a famous bar is just around the corner. And the beach is very rough. Perhaps we shouldn%26#39;t bother to stay in a hotel with direct access to the beach at all.

sorry you sound so disappointed with your trip. Think you will find internet connections are very slow everywhere in Goa

Frankly speaking I%26#39;m more tuned to the kind of environment and service like one finds in Thailand. That%26#39;s heaven at a very low cost. Our trip to Goa wasn%26#39;t disappointing -just not too memorable.
