going to goa for the first time

1st time to Goa, finding it a nightmare to find a good clean hotel in the north, a lot of the reviews are off putting. Can anyone who has been recently recommend a decent hotel at a good price and location (basic but clean will do)?

Hi. Stayed at Sun Village in Arpora/Baga and Sonnesta Inns in Candolim both were basic but clean. Sonnesta Inns, was probably the better location as you could walk into the centre easily, for a slightly longer walk (30 mins+) along the beach to calangute and baga. I hope to go to Candolim myself beginning of March and can%26#39;t wait. Have a great time!

Rather than a hotel have you thought of an apartment as we usually stay at Alburqueue Villas in Candolim. They have everything from a room to suites some with ac and are very reasonable and very clean .Their email address is dsad@sancharnet.in or toni_goa@sancharnet.in.They dont have a website as they often get repeat business. We have stayed there5 times and last year they renovate a lot of the rooms.

The 4 star Lemon Tree, excellent, located in Candolim. There are reviews on this site and they have their own website http://lemontreehotels.com/

Going back next week for 1 month for 2nd time at this Hotel.

snap first time we go16feb have just changed our hotel due to bad reviewes , hope you have good time we opted for palmarinha in calangute alittle further from town but taxis are so cheap and regular shuttle to town and beaches sounds quiet good was going to stay at prazeres log on to holiday- truths very honest about every thing good site as well as trip advisor

will be in Palmarinha till feb 4 2008, we shall inform Adam and gang of your immenent arrival and maybe leave you first honey b over bar. Enjoy, go with flow, dont use shuttle bus, taxi outside hotel.Go to St. Alex chuch roundabout first day , walk down lane 2 beach and get feel of place, less overpowering.

You may wish to look at the website of the Marina Bay Beach Resort. It is new and clean, clean, clean and walking distance to the beach.
