Which Hotel - Please help

Thanks to everyones help on this site we have decided that we are defo going in November. Now i just dont know which resort hotel to choose from.

I dont mind walking to the beach and walking in the evening to go for dinner but i would prefer not to be to far away that you need shutle buses or taxis most days. Also i would like a busy resort but dont mind the hotel being say a 10 - 20 min walk away from nightlife/beach/restaurants etc. I would like a hotel with a pool, bar and restaurant in case we wanted to spend a day doing absolutely nothing!!! And am just looking for a clean room with decent shower, maybe A/C and a wardrobe would be good.

I have a choice of the hotels below that are in our budget:-

Baga

Riverside Regency, Aldeia Bello, Beira Mar Baga,

Anjuna

Tamarind, Don Joao Resort Hotel,

Calangute

Village Royal, Somy Resort, Mira Hotel, Osborne, Hotel Kamat, Colonia de Braganza, Resort de tio carmino, Sentor Angelo,

Arpora

Renton Manor, Abalone

Dona Paula

Pescador Hotel

Candolim

Lui Beach, Don Hill Beach Resort, Summerville Beach Resort.

Which Hotel - Please help

Hiya,

Senhor Angelo in Calangute is a lovely little hotel in a great location. I%26#39;ve known lots of people stay there over the years. Rooms are basic but clean and include a fridge, en-suite and wardrobe, A/C is extra I think. The Hotel is just 3 mins walk from the beach and 8 mins walk to shops, bars, restaurants. The pool and pool area have been re-built this season and are very nice. There is also a bar and restaurant on-site....everything you asked for is there.

Village Royal is far out and requires taxis to beach, shops, restaurants etc. Colonia de Braganza and Beira Mar both get bad reports so maybe best to steer clear of those two. Aldeia Belo is in an ok location - walkable to beach 10-15 mins and closer for shops, bars etc.

Hope this is helpful,

GFF xx

I have only stayed in two of the ones you state, Renton Manor, Beria Mar. Renton Manor we moved out of within 24 hours. They have since painted the outside, but neglected to paint inside, unless this has been done since last year.

Beira Mar, can only be described as a prison, loads of long paths leading to various blocks and very dirty (in my opinion). Last year we stayed in Ave Maria in Candolim, and although very very basic, we had an amasing time and tried to book again this year but couldn%26#39;t get in.

Arpora is nice, but a bit away from the beach. There are a few good restaurants, but you really need a taxi to get to beach and Calangute/Baga/Candolim areas.

Renton Manor - we have spoken to people who didn%26#39;t like it, it%26#39;s extremely basic apparently and looks a bit like barracks!

Riverside Regency looks a nice small hotel in a good location

Personally, I would go for Candolim - the beach is nicer and there are lots of great places to eat. There should be reports on some of the hotels you mention in this forum, but we usually rent an apartment.

Echo the sentiments about the Biera Mar we stayed there in November last year the hotel is shocking - its a shame really as the location is excelent. Also stay away from the Alor Grand in Candolim we moved from this hotel last March within 2 hours of arriving

Would definately give Biera Mar a miss, its like Strangeways but with a pool.

Have a look at Casa Sea Shell in Candolim, only 2 floors, with balconies over looking gardens, its clean but basic, has a (wardrobe), a good shower and WC, also a small secluded pool. Safety deposit box 20rps per day, fridge if required and a night security guard. Hotel stands just back from main Candolim to Calangute/Baga road. So all you need is on your doorstep and the beach is a 5 or 10 mins stroll down the lane at the side. Its restaurant also gets loads of recommendations on TA.

We paid £20 per/night over Xmas this year, no Air Con but you don%26#39;t need it in November.

Are you keen on going North? I don%26#39;t know the north well so cannot recommend hotels there - we tend to stay in the south - Cavelossim area - and there are small hotels there which are clean and come recommended by Goanjock and Madaboutgoa, just book your flights and your hotel and pick up a taxi at the airport. It comes cheaper doing it yourself than using a tour company, unless you can pick up a bargain that is.
