pre paid taxis airport to sudder street

arriving around 2 am, i was wondering, if pre paid taxis would be available around that time of the night or even later, if the plane is late?

and also, where is the counter, arriving from overseas and much is the taxi?

Prepaid taxis will be available even at late night. A lot of people come on the night flights.

The fare will be not more than Rs 250- 300 ($ 5-6), but I am not sure on that. You can take it as a rough idea.

do you know, if they are very busy around that time of the night, means - will it take long to arrange for a taxi?

The prepaid counters are normally empty, but when flights arrive a long line forms out of nowhere. Its hard to tell in advance what the situation will be. Do not go for the taxis outside which skip the queue though, they are doing that because they will charge you an arm and a leg. Better to pay some more and get a reserved car from an agency if you don%26#39;t want to queue.

Mind you, make sure your taxi driver knows or understands your hotel. Sudder street is not the best area to go wandering about at 3 AM.

brave 1 said it all-just one more comment-the prepaid taxi is safe,because,the police has a record of the taxi. The others,might be ok,but why risk-even though,Calcutta is a safe city,but you can never be too caureful in a foreign land!
