Also does anyone no what the banks are like in calangute?would like to get money out whilst there but have been told not to rely on the banks etc...?
banks/cash points
I used the banks on mu last visit had no problems and think many will agree with me as no one so far as I am aware has discouraged using the banks over their. Who told you that???
When taking cash out of machine most banks have separate sections that you walk into where cash machines are, they have security outside so if too many people are in their at one given time he will stop anyone else from going in.

No problem with the Banks in Calungute, I use them every year. I always use the ICICI Bank which was next to Menezies but has moved opposite now. I tend to use them early evening as you get a shock from the freezing temperature inside LOL. I think the thermostat must have broke last year because it must have been minus something inside. They have a security guard permantly based outside, although occasionally they do come in and TRY to help for a few rupees. Just remember to check with your Bank how much commission they will charge. I always end up paying about £3 everytime I withdraw £50. I have noticed on another thread if you open a Nationwide Flexi, you don%26#39;t have to pay the commission charges. I%26#39;ll be doing that for next year!
Make sure you tell your bank that you are going to india As a security measure some will not authorise transactions unless told to. This cuts out unauthorised use.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention that, Barclays are one Bank that apparently won%26#39;t authorise them unless informed. I also believe Lloyds are the same?
