Planning for honeymoon at darjeeling in April

Hi all,

Can some suggest me some good hotel at darjeeling or nearby place like Mirik from where i can have a panoramic view of Himalayas.

Price range could be 1500-2000 Per day , preferd would be cozy, very decent , with attic rooms . btw is Attic rooms good .

Also how much is that true that , the prices and the packeage deals on internet is costly . Rather one can go there and direclty stay there at lower cost and bargain on the packages.

I have recently posted an article ';Offbeat Places around Darjeeling'; - which may be of some information and help to you.

I have been to Darjeeling about 4-5 times and the problem is that it is pretty crowded during peak seasons -- so in case you are willing to go on a honeymoon, I presume you will be looking for some solitude.

Rishyap is a tiny place and you can reach it from NJP Rly Stn or Bagdogra in about 4 hours. It only has about 10 to 15 hotels, which means that even during the peak season, one can only have about 200 or 300 people. And dont worry - it is a pretty safe place.

You can stay there for 3-4 days and then maybe drop over to darjeeling for another 2- days to complete your trip.

There are plenty of hotels in darjeeling to suit every budget. So I guess you have to check out the websites and talk to them and find out if it suits your budget. Hoeverwevr hotels such as Windamere, Mayfair Resorts, Cedars Inn, Sinclairs etc are great ones, but slightly costly. The next rung of good comfortable hotels include Seven Seventeen, Dekeling, Darjeeling Gymkhana, Mohit and so on.

Another tip :- If you are not arriving at the peak season, try calling up the hotel directly and make the booking. You can save atleast 15 to 20% since the hoteliers would pass you a portion of the commission that they otherwise would have passed onto the travel agent. !!!!!

Can somebody provide me the phone number and contact details of New Elgin Hotel at Darjeeling.

We spent 21 days in Darjeeling at the Gymkana Club. It was inexpensive, cozy, clean and the staff was absolutely amazing. I have never met a nicer group of people. As we were there for so long, they treated us as family and invited us back to stay with them and meet theie actual families. What a wonderful place to stay! We are looking forward to going back and we will most definately stay at the Gymkana.
