Luxury Trains - One Way?

We are interested in taking a luxury train from Delhi to Mumbai, one way. Does anyone know if this is possible? I have only found tours.

There are no luxury trains in the category of Palace of Wheels.

The best you can get are the Shatabdi trains, which are regular trains, but have airconditioning and all meals on board.

From what u hv written I understand that u wanna travel towards mumbai and at the same time experience the luxuries of a heritage train, if thats the case u could try ';fairy queen'; from delhi to alwar and take a superfast train from alwar to mumbai...

From alwar there are several trains to jaipur, atleast two will suit ur arrival time.

Secondly you cud take ashram express(frm alwar) all the way to ahemdabad and frm thr to mumbai

ur total jouney time will increase significantly, but those 7 hrs in fairy queen is worth the effort

The other luxury trains do not offer one way (Royal Orient and Palace-on-wheels)....so FQ is ur only option.

going to jaipur will limit ur options...so try for ashram express from alwar to ahemdabad and then on to mumbai (there are numerous trains from ahemdabad to mumbai)

Hmm. So no direct trains to Mumbai, unfortunately, from Alwar. Ahmedabad seems like too much of a diversion...? Personally I don%26#39;t find the luxury trains all that fascinating, I guess you have to be fond of trains and engines and their history and all that jazz.

(I%26#39;m off to Darjeeling this summer, to experience the mountain railway...let%26#39;s see if the magic suddenly comes to me!)
