3 weeks in South India (Kerala) - urgent advice please

My girlfiend and I have booked last-minute flights to Trivandrum in Kerala leaving this Friday for three weeks. We are hoping to really see and do a lot on a fairly tight student budget. We would like to travel around and don%26#39;t mind ';roughing it';. Suggestions as to destinations or any other advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi jach

I don%26#39;t don%26#39;t know what is ';roughing it'; but, In kerala Munar tea plantation a more than 40km drive road is a the place must see. You have tower station where clouds will touch the hill. Don%26#39;t wast time to see ';Niligir thars'; hardly couple of animals you can see. You can taste world best tea ';Kulukkmalai tea';.

Next spot could be see coast and beaches.

Kumarakam Back water you have spend a night in the boat house you will have entire food/sleep every thing in a traditional boat.

ENroute you can ask for grand churches and traditional villages to see.

Infact max 6-7 days are enough to see the karala. You can plan for other places in rest of the days

I visited the place two months back. I am just a traveller not a travel agent, If you need help can call me at +91 (0) 99490-08484

If you are looking for beach holidays you can spend some days in Kovalam. Goa for a conducted city sight seeing trip in Trivandrum. Travel a lot in train you can reduse the cost. If you are going to Alleppy go for day trip instead of going for full day house boat trip. Spend few days in Cochin. Fort Cochin with it%26#39;s Colonial charm will charm you. Munnar %26amp; Thekkady you need to catch a taxi. But it is beautiful hillstaion %26amp; worth to see.

Dear Friend ,

for touring in kerala

destinations

Beaches - varkala and Kovalam ( South Kerala )

Backwater- Alleppey /houseboat

Heritage town - Fortcochin , Ernakulam

Hill station - Munnar

Hill station - wayanad ( north kerala )

Nature Reserve - Thekkady / Periyar

Two weeks of travel spending more days at the beaches and two two days at other places would be ideal

Most of the journeys ( except Munnar and Thekkady ) can be done by train .. whereas to Munnar and Thekkady , you can travel by bus while on a student budget tour

Buses to Munnar operates from KSRCT bus station at Ernakulam and from Foreshore road in Ernakulam ) off MG Road - near Barath Tourist Home)

The route from south ( kerala ) can be

Kovalam / Varkala - Allappey - Thekkady - Munnar - Fortcochin

if you are moving up north to Goa from here , you can go to Wayanad - Mysore - Hampi - and up north to Goa

or if you have to come back to Cocohin for your onward journey

you can do - wayanad - Mudumalai - Ooty - Coimbatore - cochin

best regards
