Building works at the Highland Beach Resort

We have had a letter through from our travel agents to say there are 3 new accomodation blocks being built around the pool at the hotel. Has anyone seen how bad the work is? Clearly we do not want to travel all the way to India if the works are going to prevent us enjoying ourselves.

This sounds like different work to what was going on last year, when they were putting up a new apartment and shop complex on the site (opposite the reception), but it didn%26#39;t bother us at all. We were in a block on the same side as the works (with balcony on the side away from it), and we didn%26#39;t hear anything or have any problems with dust.

The only related issues were one extra power failure (and who would notice with them being the norm anyway), and one evening we were without water because they%26#39;d cut through the supply.... inconvenient but not a major issue, and it was back on by morning.

Building work in Goa is typically by hand, with the occasional cement mixer, so there%26#39;s no heavy machinary. If you get a room too close and are disturbed by the work, I%26#39;m sure they would move you on request. It%26#39;s a large complex and they will have plenty of rooms well away from the work.

Personally, I wouldn%26#39;t be too concerned if it were me. The Highland is an excellent, well located hotel and I%26#39;d be there myself if it had been cheap enough over Christmas, building work or not.

Hi been gon to Highland for 4 years they were building last year but it does not bother you in any way. Very little noise and you dont sit n your hotel room all day any way. There should be no problem with this dont be put off going

I have been at the Highland all week (got back about an hour and a half ago). Most of the building work is almost finished and all of it is well away from the main parts of the hotel. It will not spoil your holiday at all.

The weather is fantastic and the shack licences were issued last Wednesday, although some were already trading.

Dear Mrs.Smith-Jones , Be carefull about moving. Our friends got same letter last year and relocated. They ended up outside Candolim and this spoilt there holiday. We decided to stay at the Highland Beach and we had a great time.

we too have been advised of old building work nearing completion and new building work just starting, its upsetting as we only booked 3 weeksa ago, and are due to go out in 4 weeks time and cannot find alternate accomodation, (that has 2 bedroms as we are traveling with our teenage daughter). we are in two minds to cancel but have gone to the expense of visas and anti-malarials £500 out of pocket, so want ot go to Goa

were due to fly out on 31/03/2008 and i%26#39;m dreading my holiday now.

If you read all the replies on here, you%26#39;ll see that everyone said they hadn%26#39;t been disturbed by the building work, so stop dreading it and start looking forward to it!

Hi

Just back n Februry we were round where the bulding is going on in one of the new block, there is absolutely no noise, we walked through the bulding ste each day to go the the beach and gave the kids sweets. This will not disturb your holiday and most likely you will not be round at that part any way. Have a fab time

we arrived back from highland on 15th feb, don%26#39;t let building work put you off as the complex is so big you probably won%26#39;t be affected by it. We stayed in a 2 bedroom in a new block with 2 teenagers and both bedrooms had a ensuite.

Hi, My family and i are travelling to the Highland 16th March staylign for 2 weeks all the reports on the building work has put my mind at ease, thanks!

I was wondering if anyone has done the elephant trips and how much they cost?

thanks ali
