travel time and distance hyatt to city center

i%26#39;m thinking of staying at the hyatt hotel in kolkata.

it%26#39;s quite far out of the city, but how far - km or miles - is it to the city center? how much is approx. the cost of a taxi?

is the metro nearby - what about dum dum train station? would it be feasible to take a taxi to the station and then on with the metro?

thanks for the information!

travel time and distance hyatt to city center

Hi,

Hyatt is not really very far from the city. In moderate traffic, it will take you about 30 min by taxi to reach Chowringee/Park Street and it will cost you about Rs 80-100. ($2-3)

The Metro is not nearby. Dum Dum station is further away from the Hyatt than Park Street is. It will be more convenient for you to use Taxis. If you want to use the Metro service, stay at the Park or Oberoi Grand instead. But trust me, you will have no problem with taxis. Just check the meter when you get on and pay by the chart they carry with them.

For things to see and do in Kolkata, just browse through the older posts. Plenty of information already discussed.

2-3 days is enough for Kolkata. Spend two nights in Kol, and take a trip to Darjeeling instead. For more details on that, just see the Darjeeling forum.
