Actual Rate in Goa

Does anyone know the actual rate for sterling cash in Calangute or Candolim please.

Actual Rate in Goa

The rate changes daily, at present it is hovering around the 80 rupees mark. Depending on where you change your money will decide the rate you get. The Hotels usually give you the worst rates and the change shops give you the best and usually have their prices outside. Avoid the change shops at the airport, there have been stories of short changing customers. At the risk of sounding repetative get down to the Heathway and open a Nationwide flex account. They don%26#39;t charge for using foreign ATM%26#39;s and give you up to the minute top exchange rates.

Actual Rate in Goa

Our mates have a nationwide flex account, went off on hols and found they couldn%26#39;t get any money out, card was refused so they had to use their ordinary cash card and pay the charges! They are waiting for Nationwide to explain why they couldn%26#39;t use the card. So make sure if you do take the Nationwide card you have a backup card as well.

Yes Barking, i considered doing that, but dont really want another idle bank account. Cant change my main one its linked to my mortgage. Anyway looks like the rupee is on the up, im off tomorrow, not bothered about the thunderstorms forecast, im sure ill be wet on the inside before im wet on the outside.

Hi

Thanks for that Bruahy. I appreciate your posting.

Barking. I am laughing at your last comment. Isnt it just !!

DagenhamKal, Better rate than when we were there in jan and feb!! Really jealous cause I thought we might have sneaked a couple of weeks in at the end of the Goa season but have now discovered that English schools are having their holidays after easter and as I work a seasonal business will now be working those weeks. Roll on November after hopefully a long, hot English summer. Have a super holiday (without thunderstorms!!!)

Steph.

if you have a nationwide flex account you need to make sure you tell them your travelling to goa/india so they don%26#39;t stop your card as there has been a lot of fraud and cloned cards in india this is why they stop the card hope your mate makes nationwide pay for all the charges that he had to incurr due to them stopping his card !

Hi

I%26#39;ve used Nationwide Flex in several countries over the last ten years without problem and use this for the bulk of our spending money. It is a good idea to let your bank know when you are travelling in case of problems. Our friends tried to use their credit card in Goa this year for a large purchase and it was declined. This was immediateley put right by a phone call to the bank. Theres always old fashioned cash and travs for the technophobes. I suppose that whatever you opt for it will have it%26#39;s pros and cons. Just that if you do decide to use a cash card whether its just for a back up or for your main cash the Nationwide seems to be the best deal.
