Thanks for the info. I knew a lot of lovely Khasi people at my previous work place and I do want to go there some day especially to see the orchids and waterfalls but it is so very far away from Mumbai !!!

Hey! nothing is far. If you so wish to come to shillong it can be arranged and with all the low fares offered by so many airlines now it has become quite convenient.Its a place to come to and not forget ever for its natural beauty and the hospitable people.

I will get in touch with you Viky8 for more tips, whenever we plan a trip to Meghalaya, sooner rather than later, I pray. The biggest problem is wasting almost 3 days total for going and coming from Mumbai because the flight timings to Calcutta are not at all convenient from Mumbai. This has not changes as I remember my Khasi colleagues also used to face this problem every time they wanted to go home, they had to waste precious days of hard to get leave, on travel time.
