2 ladies travelling to mumbai for shopping

Hi there,

My friend and I are planning to travel to mumbai on the 16th of march. I would like to know which would be a good area to stay in mumbai. We would like to stay in mid range hotel that is safe.

I am keen in looking at designer salwaars and sarees in mumbai..it would be great if you could recommend places to go (I would like to buy these suits for resale in my country so i need cheap quality goods).

Thank you very much for your help

regards

Kazy

Akina, I replied to your private message.

Try Gandhi Market and Mangaldas Market.

Hi Akina

Mangldas Market would be closed on 16th being Sunday. Bur Gandhi Market will surely be open on the day. You can try Dadar wholsale Market near the flyover which would be alos open on the day.

Dadar and Gandhi Market are closed on Monday.

Also, all these markets open only at 11:30. If you go at 11, some shops will be open, but only by 11:30 all the shops are open and the wares are displayed. They are open until 9:00 p.m. In many shops there is traditional style sit-and-buy, you have to take off your shoes, so don%26#39;t wear elaborate straps and things that are difficult to remove.

Hi Deepa, Thanks, I emailed you a private message, please reply.

Best Regards

Pick any hotel in the Dadar area. There is a RAmee Guestline near the Swaminarayan temple at Dadar Station [Dadar TT side] which is decent and safe for women to stay. Gandhi Market in Sion is very close by where you can buy good stuff at wholesale rates. Hindmata market in Dadar is excellent for wholesale and retail cheap sarees like the ones you see in the popular TV serials, in fact some of the sarees are known by the TV serial or star names !

Also take a look at Silk Museum stores at Dadar TT, they will give you a wholesale rate if you buy in bulk.

Mangaldas Market is near Crawford Market in the city near VT, its more for fabrics although you will certainly get cheap salwar kameez in the lanes around.

Happy shopping.
