Hi there.. we%26#39;re of to the Highland on the 16th March. Any hints or tips gratefully recieved!

While their I would like to take my son to bathe with the elephants any ideas on the best trips?

Highland beach

there are not kettles, so if u fancy a brew in the morning take a travel kettle.

Take a padlock for a safe, there free to hire, you just take your own lock.

If your not happy with your room, as there are some older rooms, just ask to be moved, we was in room 3403, away from the main block, but it was massive.

if your lucky you may see the monkeys which live in the trees at the back of highland beach.

pool towels are available.

take an andrex with you, as there isn%26#39;t much loo roll on it if you get my drift.

As for the elephants, on the beach road there is a tour company, called johns i think, not sure how much the trip is.

i go on the 22nd and im sooooo excited! 11 more sleeps to go!

any ideas if there is a hairdryer in the room - i dont really want to have to lug mine around!

No hairdriers, I think you will only find these in the 4* plus hotels.

oh well - ill get a littel travel one!

Would like to know how you went on as i took am taking my son he is only 11 and think the elephants will be something he will never forget-- i go on the 24/3/08 staying at the highland beach--

Yeah certainly i%26#39;ll let you know. So far other kind people on the forum have told me of 2 different trips one you stay over in a mud hut and spend a lot of time interacting with the elephants, and a day trip where you just bathe them.

We%26#39;re going with Thomas Cook, they charge 拢75 each for the overnight jungle book trip, but someone but me in touch with johns boat trip in candolim and it%26#39;s 拢45 each with them - quite a difference eh.

Have you been to Goa before? It our first time.

it will be much cheaper to do the tour from resort, and it would be the same trip.

If you leave highland beach by the side road, through the building site, there is a family of women and men who are working there.

Between them they have 6 children lovely kids. I used to go to newtons supermarket every day and buy them a 5 rp kit kat. And come out of newtons turn right, and walk through the site, the kids couldnt%26#39; wait for the chocolate.

to see there faces it was a picture.

so to anyone going try this one day, there is no greater pleasure, than seeing these kids faces.
